ITCHEN COLLEGE, SOUTHAMPTON

This new-build project was successfully delivered with CSW Cladding providing the design, supply, and installation of the full building façade. Our scope included Steel Frame System (SFS) infills to the building structure, followed by the installation of a high-performance sheathing board and weather-resistant membrane, ensuring durability and protection against the elements.

To support the rainscreen system, a specialised cladding support system was installed, incorporating a combination of rails and brackets to create a durable and efficient subframe. The façade was further enhanced with high-density insulation, improving thermal efficiency and acoustic performance.

Fire safety was a key priority in this project, and the design incorporated a range of cavity fire barriers, ensuring compliance with fire strategy requirements and building regulations.

The final rainscreen system was selected for its modern aesthetic, durability, and non-combustible properties, delivering a sleek and visually striking exterior.

This project utilised Drywall - Dryspec SFS and RCM – Y-Wall sheathing board as part of the structural build-up. The Tyvek Firecurb Membrane, Nvelope NH3 System, alongside Plastestrip – Fastframe Cladding Support System and Fastframe Omega & Zed System, provided a robust and efficient rainscreen subframe. Rockwool – Rainscreen Duo Slab was installed throughout the façade to enhance thermal and acoustic performance.

To meet fire strategy requirements, Tenmat's VFB 60-60, VFB Premier, and NVFB cavity fire barriers were integrated, ensuring compliance with fire regulations. The final rainscreen cladding was delivered using Fairview’s Vitraduel System, achieving a high-quality, modern aesthetic with durable performance.
